The Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne -- Day 4

Most of the day was spent at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.  We wondered around the grounds, ate lunch at the cafe, listened to some beautiful harp music, and identified a lot of birds and fauna.
 Tim, Ben, David, and Moira
Never knew trees could assume so many shapes
A lovely cottage -- one of the original buildings where the director of the Gardens once lived -- is now where beautiful arts and crafts are made for the gift shop
Ben is making his way through a path in the Children's Garden

 Tree hugging David

Ben noted that some of the trees looked like they were from a Dr Suess book.

The herb garden (Australian's say the "h" in herb)

The Shrine of Remembrance, Victoria's memorial to the men and women who served in Australia's armed conflicts and peacekeeping operations (quoting from a pamphlet...)

Conversing with the black swans.

  1. it's funny to imagine dad hugging the tree that ben is leaning against in the photo below - because that makes dad super tiny!
